The Affinity Skydive – a sky-high achievement!
Last year The Affinity team took on the 3-Peaks Challenge and raised over £2,500 for a great cause. This year we set our sights even higher (15,000ft higher to be exact!), and aimed to raise £3,000 for a charity very close to our hearts, Dorset Mind. To achieve this, we doubled the number of people involved and took 12 of our bravest staff members to go skydiving with GoSkyDive.
The jump was a soaring success, and every team member managed to not only jump (no pushing was required!), but also raise an incredible amount. Here’s what Ethan Speechley-Price, one of the organisers and participants had to say about the event:
“It has been amazing for so many of us to be able to tick off such a classic bucket list item by skydiving from 15,000ft, but to do so whilst raising just shy of £4,000 for a charity as amazing as Dorset Mind Mental Health Support has been unbelievable. With so much support from friends, family, colleagues and clients, all I can say is a massive thank you to everyone who got involved and showed support. I know the kind of work this charity does means so much to so many of us at The Affinity Group, so this event will hold an incredibly special place in my heart and has made me even more proud to be part of such an incredible company!
It’s anyone’s guess how we are going to be able to top this next year! Suggestions are very welcome.”
We are thrilled to have raised such a large amount of money for Dorset Mind. They are an amazing charity that educates, challenges stigma and inequality, and promotes recovery by empowering individuals to develop resilience. Their support groups and befriending services help people regain social skills. They also deliver educational awareness programmes for schools and workplaces.
It’s never too late to donate! If you would like to show your support, you can do so on our GoFundMe page. Thank you again to everyone who’s already donated.
